Filtration Systems. Air Purification Filters for Clean Rooms
Air Filter
Systems for Smoky Rooms and Offices
Over the past
few years Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has become an area of growing concern.
As modern buildings have become tighter, ventilation rates have been
reduced and new contaminants detected, resulting in increased levels
of indoor air pollution.
One major
concern is the risk of health of passive smoking and with the health
and safety executive stating (under section 2 of the Health & Safety
at Work Act 1974) employers must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable,
the health, safety and welfare at work of all their employees
the need to act is clear.
The HSE recommends
that all employers should have a specific policy on smoking in the work
place, which should give priority to the needs of non-smokers who do
not wish to breathe tobacco smoke and that smokers should be segregated
from non-smokers. This is not always practical and prior to any statutory
requirements being put in place, industry as a whole needs to react
to and comply with the existing guidelines to improve indoor air quality.
Filtaire Air
Cleaners recirculate air around enclosed spaces rooms, offices,
hospitality suites, work areas, bars or clubs. This process is completed
many times an hour and each time polluted air passes through special
filters that remove contaminants, thus returning cleaned air to the
room.
Contaminants
may be a) particulate i.e. solid particles down to sub-micron levels
(1 micron = 1/1000th millimeter) or b) gaseous in the form of volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) e.g. solvent fumes and odours.
Both the amount
of the airflow and the type of filter being used will determine the
efficiency of the units. All Filtaire units offer a selection of filter
media to suit various applications. Our 200 model has a single speed,
the 300 has dual speed and both our 2000, and 5000 models have a variable
speed fan system so that air recirculation rates can be adjusted to
changing conditions.
Continuously
recycling and filtering the air within any enclosed space creates conditions
that approach those of a specially designed clean room.
Hence, there is a very significant reduction in the risk of breathing
in unwanted or potentially harmful contaminates such as tobacco smoke,
bacteria, viruses, pollens, spores etc. as well as solvent vapours and
odours. The air treated in this way becomes cleaner than so called fresh
air, which in itself may be contaminated with exhaust fumes, bacteria,
spores, pollens and various other contaminates. There are, thus, many
cases where Air Cleaner systems will give much better results than extraction
or ventilation systems.
Cleaner Air
for Products and Processes
Products or
processes may suffer from unwanted inclusion of dust and dirt and other
forms of airborne contamination. Air cleaners are a low cost option
to achieving clean room conditions, hence, invaluable for
improving the quality of the air to avoid spoiling products or processes.
A Simple Low
Cost Solution
The Filtaire
ranges are a simple arrangement of fan plus filter (with the exception
of the patented design of rotating the filter media in our 300 and 200
models to create the air flow), and therefore, have a low initial cost.
They are inexpensive to install because they do not require expensive
ductwork or fans. It is economic to operate only consuming 120watts.
Because they recirculate the air, the Filtaire range has the added advantage
of not requiring additional heating or cooling when compared with most
extraction and ventilation systems.
